I was given a math problem by my deputy head teacher at school this week. This is a link to the problem.

    And here is my answer

    So the answer is

I go across first with the lab assistant because we are the fastest. That takes 2 minutes, then I go back over, another 1 minute and give the lantern to the janitor and the professor. It takes them 10 minutes to get across. The lab assistant dashes back which takes 2 minutes and then we run back across together taking a further 2 minutes…17 minutes in total!

Wow hard to believe that Thomas has been attending Inspire classes for a year now. He is fortunate enough to be attending again next year with a few changes. Firstly the class is now called STEAMS and he will attend Wednesdays.

    Whats it all about?

In brief, STEAMS School is a ‘one full day per week’ extension programme designed to challenge students to think, to explore, and to create new ideas while being surrounded by like-minded peers. The day starts with opportunities for individual focus in Science, Maths or Spanish, the classes then move into collaborative learning following a termly conceptual theme with fascinating weekly topics, and then the afternoon offers a wide choice of hands-on creative inventing and experimenting linked to the weekly topic.
There will be one class for ages 6-9 (Teacher – Catherine Barack) and another class for ages 9-13 (Teacher – Linda Rogers). The structure of the programme will be three-fold: Focused and Sustained Learning, Collaborative Learning, and Creativity…INSPIRE Education

Once a year an Inspire Festival is held at the Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology which is just across the road from Thomas’ School.

After a full on weekend (with help from Mum and Dad) which included experimenting with slime recipes and lots of art work. My products were ready for trading day today! It was so exciting and a little daunting because I had a huge queue as soon as trading started. I completely sold out some people even paid for a couple of damaged pet rocks at a reduced amount. Im so proud. I made a massive $4800 which was $2800 more than anyone else in my class.
