    Day 12 Eurostar to Paris

    Filed under: UK Trip 2017;

Oh my what an early start alarm went off at 4.15am!!
Eternally grateful to Dave for getting up and driving us to Ashford in order to catch the 6.55am to Gaur Nord Paris. So we are currently on board the Eurostar and heading towards Kent coast. We had forgotten how flat the land is here and Thomas is fascinated by the fields of wind turbines. Next update will be from Paris au revoir.
So some how we missed the tunnel!! In our defence it was still dark. It will be day light on our return so we will be sure not to miss it!

We arrived to blue skies and just the hint of sunshine and with the help of Thomas and google maps located our hotel pretty quickly. Walking through Marche couvert St Martin which was a feast for all senses, beautiful flowers and fresh produce including, fish, meat and fruit and veggies plus a vast array of cheese and wine!!

Our hotel was “petit” but comfy. We checked in and went to explore.
Where to start… well we cheated we bought a two day bus pass and were off. Well actually we were hoping on and off! Route one took two hours with out hopping off! It was cold, blustery and raining a little but spectacular spectacular! The noise, the crazy traffic, the crowds and of course the amazing architecture and history made for an unforgettable and unique experience. The queues for everything were never ending so we have all decided we will be back at a little quieter time of year !

    Stop 1 Tour Eiffel
    Stop 2 Champs De Mars
    Stop 3 Opera Garnier
    Stop 4 louvre – Pyramide
    Step 5 louvre
    Stop 6 Notre Dame
    Stop 7 Musee d’Orsay
    Stop 8 Champs Élysées
    Stop 9 Grand Palais
    Stop 10 Trocadéro

We hopped off at numerous points and Thomas did a great job of ordering our lunch in French. We also did a little shopping in a rather well known chocolate shop.

Then it was back on for Paris by night. Simply stunning to see so many famous landmarks lit up. The crowds had dispersed a little but not much.

To Thomas’ delight we disembarked in the Latin Quarter as we had seen some comic book stores so we were off in search of a much sort after book Tintin and the Soviets and as luck would have a very happy young man found it in the second shop!

Back on the bus and then hopping off as close to the hotel as we could find. Walking through the streets until we found a small market to buy bread and cheese for a picnic supper back at our room and a good nights sleep. Wow what a day!
